Martin Bläse sound bowls are unique in generating dual tones—two frequencies separated by less than 10 Hertz. This close proximity causes interference patterns that produce a captivating vibrato or shimmering effect. When this phenomenon occurs, only one of the fundamental tones in the singing bowl is accurately tuned.
Martin Bläse cold forges all his bowls. Unlike Nepalese and Tibetan bowls, which are fire forged, Martin strikes the metal without heat. This makes each bowl incredibly laborious. He used a dug out block of wood to forge each size bowl into the the proper shape before final tuning. Each bowl is struck thousands of times in two sections, first the from, then the tuning.
The end result is not only a visually striking masterpiece....but a sonic sculpture. This is living art and Martins souls journey. Each bowl holds something beyond the sound...it holds a passion of greater understanding, sympathy, and gratitude.
Just wait until you hold it...and you feel something more than any other bowl. Bowls forged by a master silversmith...
These bowls shine when struck rather than rimmed, allowing the release of the vibrato. The layers of sound is astounding and incredibly unique.
