In this instrument, Plexiglass resonators are suspended above copper sound tubes. When these are gently set in motion—swinging back and forth—undulating resonances emerge, continuously ebbing and flowing. A tapestry of sound unfolds—a sonic texture typically unfamiliar in the realm of acoustic instruments. The harmonic layers build and sustain, creating extended resonance that lingers and evolves with each gentle swing, allowing the tones to blend and interact in rich, complex ways. When played without the swinging the miraphones, the tubes act as an amplifier, enhancing the volume but also its sonic texture.
