Community Reiki Info

Hello Neighbors! This is Melody from Brooklyn Healing Arts (the new space next to the Village Grocer). Jarrod and I are excited to finally open our door and offer Community Reiki by donation this week.

You’re invited to come and remove your shoes, coat, worries and cares (for just a few minutes) and take a moment to enjoy the simple yet significant things like your breath. Ahh to be alive…

Whether you’ve tried reiki before or you’re unfamiliar with this healing modality, you are welcome to come and experience a small dose in a quiet group setting. We will have 5 chairs open and rotating with 15-30 minute treatments so you can pop-in and go about your day.

We will have weekly offerings of reiki and sound in the new year. Private sessions will be available on Mondays and Thursdays, groups on Wednesdays. Please check out the website for more details or come by and grab a brochure by the door. We look forward to serving you.

If you’d like to know more about reiki, there are plenty of articles on that internet everyone is talking about, but I found this article does it.

What to expect:

I will try to maintain a peaceful and quiet space during this time so I will spell out what I can here if you plan to come.

1. Come on in, remove shoes and coat and place in closet.
2. We will ask for you to sign a simple waiver, like in a yoga class.
3. You can make yourself comfortable, use the restroom, check out the space (though the shop will be closed), or just grab an empty gravity chair.
4. I will ask you to put your phone on airplane mode and set the alarm for how long you’d like to stay and I will place it under your chair to keep track of time.
5. Then I will gently rest my hands on your body, like your head or shoulders. If you prefer no touch, that is also an option! Most of the time will be hands off.
6. At this point you just get to relax, if this is difficult, just focus on breathing in and out- and remember what a glorious thing this is.
7. When your timer goes off (on vibrate hopefully) I will signal you with a gentle shoulder squeeze. Then you can take one more moment to enjoy before going back your day hopefully feeling a little bit lighter.

A donation box and Venmo info will be by the door.

If by chance the seats are full, you can grab a seat in the treatment room which will serve as a waiting room until a seat opens.

We will maintain a quiet and peaceful setting so if you bump into a familiar face, please keep talking to a minimum and if anything, come with a friend and then grab some tea and/or lunch after!

As you can see, I like things spelled out, it makes me feel safe when I know what to expect, I hope this helps you too. Our goal is to create a safe space.

Of course things don’t always go as planned, so we appreciate your understanding!

If you’re still reading this- I appreciate you! I look forward to meeting, sharing, and connecting if not this Wednesday, then sometime soon.
