This entertaining sound creator is a stringed hollowed-bamboo resonator instrument dating back to Medieval Europe. Its unique pitch is brought to life by using a stick, smothered in colophonium resin, to frictionally vibrate the string; the hollowed bamboo amplifies the offbeat croaking noises and natural sounds. Although durable, these instruments are best used as temporary as the colophonium, a type of amber, decreases in performance over time.
