The Elegance of Decay

The Elegance of Decay

Before I begin this writing, I would like to preface that the dense topic is not meant to be morbid or dark, but rather offer a new perspective on our movement through space and time. There is a saying that many people refer to that never sat well with me in its message. The saying is “Death is just the beginning.”  The reason being that as eternal beings, death is simply the exhale of life. When we are born, we inhale our first breath and when we pass, we exhale our final. As a pulsation of God, we are not born into a body but rather grow into a body, like a leaf springs from a tree. The leaf is simply the bounty of the inner life of a tree and our body is a leaf, while our eternal being is the tree. We are not born, we simply take shape. We like to say “Death is just the beginning,” but the truth is the eternal is never born and never dies. It is forever.

Growth is decay.  Even in our healthiest state during our lifetime, we are in decay. We move ever forward in the soul’s journey through life. Some find a spiritual path while others live within the illusion itself. Nonetheless, the mechanics of the world are dependent upon each person and their value within the world. Not one person is more important to the world than anyone else, or more spiritually “advanced,” for some are simply more aware, for nothing is more God than what is.

When I offer sound to people the evolution of the play is a parable of life itself. It follows the birth until the death…a microcosm of purposeful experience ladled with droves of sonic texture. I raise the sound as if it were my own daughter. I nurture it, feed it…listen….and respond to what it tells me. My approach is not of play, but rather of communication. It is a conversation and study of the evolution of life through sound. It is not healing, it is not therapy, it is art as devotion…a movement of love for God with sound.

When birthed, nothing is more important than to feel nurtured and safe. All we want is to be held…as our vulnerability is visceral. We are helpless in every single way. For consciousness reflects this whenever we close our eyes and go within. We are in a state of perpetual birth. For when we are given the body, eternity brings us to this moment. We are given a body…a sliver of physical existence sandwiched between eternal spiritual quiddity. Life is akin to two blinks of an eye…the first blink is birth, the second…death. Yet, the eye is open before and after those two blinks. The eternal eye within which was not birthed. For that which isn’t born, cannot die. I feel when I offer sound and when the eyes are closed we may be able to gain a tangible experience of a time before and after our physical body was given. An experience of truth, a living sacrament of our essence.

As the sound experience progresses we are confronted with the challenges of life, which I offer with odd textures and soundscapes, where confusion and cohesion lines are blurred and we can learn to find comfort in the uncomfortable. The beauty of pain and trauma is if we learn to move through and not let it define us, we gain wisdom, strength, resilience, and a vantage point of life that is consistent with gratitude and purpose. Vision is gained through turmoil. A violent storm brings that which sustains life…for it brings the color into the world. Chaos in motion is emotionless love.

Upon ending the sound experience we find ourselves full circle…where the end is a new beginning. Where death brings life and we can walk into the world, possibly with a new perception of how life could be. The whole experience is a parable of life itself. We come into the space…that is the first blink of the eye. We then lay down, offer the experience, then it ends…and that is the second blink of the eye. As we close our eyes we experience ourselves in a new way. Yet, we go about our lives the same as before after its end.

In the quantum, it is becoming known that each day is different. It is an amalgamation of our dreams, desires, and drive. We feel each day is the same, but the mechanisms of change are universal and in perpetual motion. When living your dream, the universe begins to throw you pieces to solve the puzzle. For we can literally do nothing without someone else help. Yet, recognizing those angels is the work.  For the empire you build is built upon the backs of other empires. For when you sleep at night, we wake feeling in the same body. But it isn’t…the hair on your head has changed length and color…your weight is different….everything about you is changed. The beauty of this lies in the fact we can actively and consciously engage with the change. Yet, the greatest factor of all…the greatest demon in life will pull you away from it if you cannot move through the state and truly believe in yourself and confident in your vision. Fear is a manifestation of self-doubt.

So then, every single time you meditate…you are given a chance to slightly change the world you live in by simply receiving a new perception. Perception is vision of a new world. Perception in motion is also known as following your dream. I am joyful after sound experiences because I see hope and possibility with every single person. I envision people making giant changes in their lives after they leave. Not by something I did, but by the nature of the experience itself. Yes, I helped formulate the container, but that is trivial…showing up is everything.

We die every single day. So what life do you want tomorrow?
