My father once told me that flowers are the way God smiles on earth. This has stuck with me over the years as many things people have told me. Typically, these sayings are simply in passing whereby the person who is speaking is just having a conversation. They are not “teaching” or trying to make a point. Rather, it is the nature of their being which shares their inner spirit of moment. We all have these moments in life. Even though we may not think of it, you too give these offerings to others. The essence of the love of your life transfers through your voice.
Sound healing is a practical way of living. It does not entail owning or playing instruments, but rather connecting with nature and those whom you are surrounded with. Those are the entertainment, but the application is a daily practice. Each day allows us to find greater compassion and improve ourselves. Some days it is quite easy to stay within the elevated state while other days we can feel the pull into lower vibrations. Then our own energy changes and our essence shifts. We speak differently, move differently, and act differently. Have you ever watched a flower throughout the day? Have you seen its personality when the sun arrives upon its petals and how it chases light throughout the day?
Your voice is your scent, your essence, and a gateway for those who need it. One of my first sound teachers once said that the greatest sound healers are those who do not use sound at all. After all these years, that saying finally makes sense to me. It stuck into my consciousness, growing, breaking from its shell to grow and arrive in fruit at this moment for me. We are given people in our lives, they are bouquets of love, knowledge, and wisdom. But how do we receive these messages? Furthermore, what is the purpose of the scent of a flower? It is to attract; it is an act of vulnerable fertility. When we share with truth and love, our scent is strong and carries with others. This is because of the law of harmonic resonance. We speak and when those ideas are truly heard and integrated, the vibration becomes part of one’s being and subconscious. It may very well shift the worldview of an individual.
Every single word and action have the ability to become a beautiful flower. Furthermore, we can speak into being elements we wish do not grow. Calling someone stupid or dumb, or any act of belittlement or negativity can grow into a form of toxicity. Think of a flower with poison, a strong defensive mechanism protecting itself. Trauma does exactly this. It builds a wall within us, not only keeping those negative elements at bay but also restricting us from blossoming. Living with trauma is like trying to grow a flower without watering it. The very thing it needs, we cannot give. To break through these traumatic elements, we must flourish in our entirety. What do we grow into when we are given love or fear?
Listen, I am not perfect. I say things I shouldn’t. Yet, I reconcile this with the universe in my own way to hopefully alleviate the dissonance that was initiated. We cannot neglect the very human nature we hold. Being a father has changed a lot of things for me. It has made me more conscious of my words and how I say them. But it has also shown me how imperfect I am…and I have fallen in love with those parts of myself. This is something we can integrate into our lives starting at this very moment. It doesn’t require anything aside from self-awareness, attention, and diligence. We often speak without understanding how we will be heard. We cannot control how someone hears our words or how they integrate them into their lives.
You are a flower…as well as those whom you are speaking with. We often strive with our ego to be remembered, to create a legacy. But legacies die, just like a daffodil in the spring. It arises to greet the sun after a long and cold winter. It is welcomed as darkness gripped us over those months. We must become the first spring flower for people in the winter of their lives…for those whom darkness follows. The seasons are simply a reflection of ourselves and how we move through the emotions of each time of the year. It is only in the passing moments of the day where we can make impact. Not by trying to, but simply by living within our own truth. Impact is not something we strive for, but rather a byproduct of love and attention.
You are a flower. You are the soil from which it grows and the water which gives it color. You are the sun that feeds it and the eyes that gaze upon its beauty. You are the scent in the wind and the smoothness of its petals. You are everything, you may have just forgotten.
